‘If it ain’t Dutch, it ain’t much’; that pretty much sums up the Dutch dj’s and producers, who seem to be taking the world of clubbing by storm!
One of those guys, who is part of the new generation, is London based dj & producer Patrick Hagenaar.

Back in 1999, Patrick moved to London to start off his dj career whilst studying BA Business Studies. It was only a few months later when his mix-tape got reviewed in the notorious IDJ magazine, which kick started his dj-career in London.
Within the first few years Patrick already managed to grab both promoters and clubbers’ attention by rocking the London club scene with his uplifting house sound.
Highlights back then already included big clubs like Heaven (residency), Ministry of Sound, The Egg (residency), The Key, Turnmills.
After winning the Upcoming DJ Awards competition in his home country (Jan.’02) and being chosen by the biggest dance magazine BG as Rookie of the month, he also started to get booking request from promoters, which led him to play in the big clubs all over Holland: Powerzone, The Mansion, The Supperclub, Zebra Lounge , Las Palmas, De Danssalon, Q-beach etc.
Besides club and bar gigs, Patrick has also been resident dj and musical director for Scotlands biggest charity fashion show for the past three years and has appeared on radio stations all around the world through Ministry of Sound’s ‘Funky House Session’ syndicated radio show, which gets broadcasted in over 80 countries around the world !
In February 2005, Patrick's hard work and his unique way of mixing with cds only (for over 8 years) was acknowledged by Pioneer, who chose him as Star DJ of the month. Later on that year Patrick also managed to become the runner-up in the Hed Kandi’s DJ Competition out of 150 DJs, who originally entered.

With more and more booking requests coming from the UK, Patrick was offered the opportunity to become one Housexy’s main resident dj’s, which has already brought him to countries like: Dubai, Colombia, Bahrain, Latvia, Sweden, Poland, Egypt, France, Holland & Ireland.
In early 2007, Alistair Albrecht, resident dj and owner of Funky 4 Love, invited Patrick to play at Pacha(London), which not only resulted in a monthly residency, but also in a long-term partnership between the two as ‘Hagenaar & Albrecht’. In July they finished their debut track ‘What Would We Do’, which has so far been supported by all the big players in the industry and is up for release in 2008.
In September 2007, Mobile operator O2 approached Patrick to participate in a project that no other dj in the world has ever attempted before: mixing a live dj-set on two mobile phones! On the 22nd of December Patrick managed to pull this off @ the ministry of sound, which has since been viewed by 1000’s of clubbers on Ministry of Sound tv.(have a look on youtube and see what the fuzz is about!)
At present Patrick plays all around the UK and is resident DJ for Housexy, Funky 4 Love (Pacha, London) & Ministry of Sound tours. In addition, he also plays all around the world with forthcoming gigs in countries such as Russia, China, Dubai, Latvia and Holland.
Despite his busy dj schedule, he's been working on numerous exciting productions with some famous producers and songwriters, so watch this space!

In addition he features on Dance Radio in Czech Republic, MoS Radio, UK and on rotation on Bulgaria's Alpha Radio {Thursdays 5-7pm} Radio SA on Saturday evenings between 7-10pm, Galaxy FM Portugal [dates and times TBC], Big Fish Manila radio [dates and times TBC], and you can hear Patrick's mixes inflight on Singapore airlines
