


Biography Mark Simmons
With over 15 years of upward growth in the entertainment industry and the (dance)music scene, Mark Simmons has developed to be one of the most respected and influential dancemusic artists.
As a youngster, Simmons interest in music was ignited by Prince and Michael Jackson, especially the latters legendary moonwalking performance on the Motown 25th-anniversary special. At the mere age of 15, he began performing as a Hip Hop Dj at parties and bars with a local Hip-Hop group. That’s when he learned the the skills of scratching.
Over the years he improved his craft remarkably, releasing street tapes that began to generate some buzz in the local underground scene. Being invited to work as a studio programmer for well established Dutch Producers he landed his first Top 100 hit in the Dutch singles charts with ‘Donya…, You should be rockin’
From that day, Mark knew he wanted to earn a living in the music industries.
By the late-90s, Simmons started his own ‘Beatfreakz Studio’ and developed a hits generating production team . Several chart topping tracks made this studio a desirable hang out for various record labels.
‘We are like Ying and Yang…’
In 2005 he teamed up with Dennis Christopher working extensively on the their project ‘Beatfreakz’ and other projects for the worldfamous dance Label Spinnin Records. The first single under this cooperation ‘Somebody’s watching me’ was an instant smash, vaulting all the way to the top of the British pop charts (#3) early the next year and doing the same in several other European. Just like the Rick James cover follow up ‘Superfreak’ (#7)which dominated the worldwide charts for weeks.
Nonetheless, the overseas success of ‘Beatfreakz’ was enough to land them a lucrative deal with Ministry of Sound UK for a forthcoming album.
Despite of their very different characters and backgrounds they had established themselves as giants in the field of pop/dance production, whether they were working with hardcore rappers, vocalists, or teen pop groups. Mark says: ‘We are like Ying and Yang…
Remixers
As a producer Mark has been responsible for many records, under pseudonyms, that include Rockefeller , Soul corporation, Simmons & Christopher, Dennis Christoper, Mark Simmons and off course the Beatfreakz.
Because of their well known and outstanding reputation as successful producers they are very wanted as remixers of big artists like Sugababes, Michael Gray, Supermode, Till West, Infernal and many others.
Simmons followed his breakout success with an extensive world DJ tour together with Dennis Christopher both solo or as a duo.
